Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal response or state in reaction to stress or to danger. When anxiety becomes overwhelming and chronic, it results in an anxiety disorder. Typically, there is a feeling of fear and worry and people often also feel tense, restless and unable to focus. Patients with anxiety often report feeling 'wired and tired'.

Anxiety often develops gradually in women over 38 years of age and on into the 4th decade. As hormones decline, anxiety and irritability often become more enhanced. Peri-menopausal women often feel anxious, irritable and suffer from insomnia due to a racing mind in the middle of the night.

Anxiety can occur from poor nutrition and poor blood glucose control.
Anxiety can be both from nurture as well as nature; meaning, it can be genetic and/or learned from the environment we were raised in.

Finally, men experience anxiety with low testosterone levels.

As a naturopathic doctor, I will attempt to identify the underlying cause of your anxiety and then use the most natural methods to restore balance. I have had a lot of experience working with anxiety in men and women with great success.
