About Dr. Kelly Parcell

I have always been interested in health and as a child I wanted to be a teacher. One of my favorite naturopathic principles is 'Docere' (doctor as teacher) which I practice every day with patients. 

I grew up in an athletic family where my mother had been the youngest star of the Canadian national ski team, and my father along with his own racing career was the Canadian ski team coach. Of course, I grew up in ski racing, which earned me a scholarship to college. After earning a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology) from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1990, I spent 6 years chasing finish lines as a Cat II road bike racer. I finally realized I would not be a proffessional athlete for the rest of my life and needed to move on. 

I was raised on brown bread and carrot sticks, which I was always so frustrated about. I wanted junk food! In hindsight, it shaped me, and it all made sense when I discovered naturopathic medical school. I completed my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle in 2000. I then went on to intern at the Tahoma clinic under the direction of Jonathan Wright, MD (the father of bioidentical hormones).  I have extensive extracirricular training in bioidentical hormone replacement through the American Academy for Anti-aging Medicine (A4M) and have attended many conferences in women's health by expert Tori Hudson, ND. I am trained in hormone pellet implant therapy. I am a member of the Colorado Association of Naturopathic Doctors (COAND) as well as the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). 

My practice is guided by the principles of naturopathic medicine. These principles are:

  • The Healing Power of Nature: Trust in the body’s inherent wisdom to heal itself.
  • Identify and Treat the Causes: Look beyond the symptoms to the underlying cause.
  • First Do No Harm: Utilize the most natural, least invasive and least toxic therapies.
  • Doctor as Teacher: Educate patients in the steps to achieving and maintaining health.
  • Treat the Whole Person: View the body as an integrated whole in all its physical and spiritual dimensions.
  • Prevention: Focus on overall health, wellness and disease prevention

I believe that in order to help others acheive health, I must practice what I preach. I am inspired daily by my husband and two children, 15 year old and 11 year old to be the best I can be and live a long and strong life.
