The hCG diet was developed by British doctor A.T.W. Simeons in the 1950s. Read the Original HCG Study.

In 1954, Dr. Simeons made clinical observations suggesting that a 'hormone' produced in women during pregnancy plays a key role in directing the body's metabolic activity. Those observations lead to the development of a pharmaceutical form of HCG, (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) that activates the circulation of accumulated abnormal fat deposits so they can be quickly metabolized and used as energy.

When hCG treatments are combined with a very low calorie diet, fat is burned so fast that men and women following Dr. Simeons' weight loss protocol report losing 1 to 2 pounds per day. They do it safely and without exercise and lose only their excess fat, not muscle. They also learn to change the way they eat; a lesson that is crucial in maintaining their desired weight. It has been used in the United States to some degree since the 1970s but has increased in popularity during the past couple of years. Patients inject themselves daily with hCG.

HCG is not FDA approved for weight loss, however, since hCG is approved for fertility use, doctors can legally prescribe it "off label" for weight loss. Patients should only turn to these types of programs after you have tried losing weight naturally through simple diet and exercise. When it works the results are impressive.

How does it work?
Some people with obesity have an imbalance of neuropeptides in their hypothalamus, a part of the brain. Due to this problem they may accumulate fat much more than others. The metabolism of their fat tissue also may be different from other people. HCG contains endorphins and when injected accumulates in the hypothalamus. The endorphin content in hCG may account for the sensation of well-being people experienced during treatment.

HCG causes a decrease in the storage of fat in fat cells. HCG may also stimulate the mobilization of fat from fat deposits. When coupled with a very low carbohydrate diet hCG effectively inhibits the ability of the body to create new fat stores so only the burning of fat as possible, not muscle.

We now have 2 years of experience implementing HCG for weight loss in select patients. We monitor the rate of fat loss vs lean muscle loss. We also monitor patients with regular blood work to ensure safety.  We have found that although the rate of loss may vary, all patients lose more actual fat mass than they could without the HCG injection. Our patients have excellent results long term and are able to keep the weight off.
